I purchased my first house, an East Austin bungalow, at the ripe old age of 26 with a whopping $3,000 down payment. In the months that followed, all of my free time was spent constructing a 900 square foot apartment and recording studio that became my home and creative space for nearly five years. It was not my first foray into home construction, but it gave me the confidence to jump feet first into Austin real estate.
Real Estate is a job that constantly offers new challenges; no two deals or properties are ever the same. What I didn’t expect was just how rewarding it would be and the deep relationships that would form as a result. Buying and selling homes can be an intense process and it has been my honor to counsel and support so many people through that journey.
After 25 years, my passion is matched only by the deep experience and expertise I have gained as a real estate broker, a business owner, investor and homeowner and the challenges of being a father and navigating the needs of aging parents and inlaws.
I am passionate about neighborhoods, livability and the powerful role real estate plays in these issues. My goal is to help my clients make mindful decisions about real estate and ensure that each transaction is handled with absolute fidelity.
We are huge fans of Pete—both as a human and a businessperson—his commitment to fostering both a healthy family and a healthy community manifests as principled, grounded, open-hearted accessibility and advice. He approaches the sometimes emotional process of buying or selling a home with the genuine intention of fostering a holistically positive experience, and he does it with humor and kindness.
Buying and selling a home is a deeply personal and somewhat fraught endeavor. We were very fortunate to work with Peter Stiles at the Stiles agency both when we were selling our home, and when the time came to buy our new home. Peter is very thoughtful and knowledgeable. He took to time to get to know our long term and short term goals and helped us to achieve them. With Peter’s insightful guidance we made some simple cosmetic adjustments to our home and within a very short time we had multiple offers on our home. Peter guided us through the full process and I’m confident that we made the right choice.
When it came time to buy our next home, Peter once again demonstrated his understanding of what it was we were looking for. Peter is so adept at identifying potential issues in homes, and making reasonable suggestions for addressing them, that my children started calling him “Sherlock Homes, the house detective.” No drama, just clear thoughts on what might be a problem, and how it can be fixed. This was by far one of the nicest things about working with Peter. He looks at homes and he sees the full potential and has a realistic understanding of the journey to unlock that potential. He’ll guide you through deciding what is best for your family. Such a gift!
Pete helped us find and close on a home in Central Austin during one of the most challenging buyers’ markets in years. He has many attributes that make him an excellent realtor. For example, Pete knows the Austin market (of course), but he also knows a great deal about renovations, remodeling, easements, etc., all of which proved enormously helpful to us after we purchased our home. In addition, Pete has a great feel for the intangibles involved in the negotiation process, including the emotional aspects of buying a home. Overall, we are very pleased with the home we found and the price we paid for it.
